Colden's Origins

Colden Company was founded in May of 2003 with the vision of providing excellent customer service while helping organizations effectively utilize technology. Colden Company places emphasis on both data security and disaster prevention when providing technology solutions for our clients. Our refined business processes and services have allowed us to be recognized as one of the leading Managed Services Providers in the world.

The vision for Colden Company was conceived when President and Founder James LaPointe was hiking his favorite spot in the Adirondack Mountains and first saw Mt. Colden. The strength and staying power of the mountain inspired Jim to create the client-centric and partner-oriented culture at Colden.

Our Executive Team

James Lapointe, Owner & President

Jim Lapointe brings more than thirty years of industry experience and a strong commitment to customer service to Colden Company. Jim is recognized by the Disaster Recovery Institute as a Certified Business Continuity Planner and he brings this perspective to the technology solutions Colden Company Inc. provides their clients.

Besides holding a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Jim also has a wealth of experience in various IT fields. He is certified by IBM as an AIX administrator, network, security and hardware certified by CompTIA (N+, A+, Sec+) and is a Microsoft Certified Professional. Jim was recognized by Who’s Who of IT professionals and has authored several articles on business continuity planning. Channel Futures named Jim as an “industry disrupter” in 2022 for his commitment to moving the needle on data security. Jim brings an understanding of technology to the issues facing businesses today as well as unparalleled attention to detail and personalized customer service.

Philip Porreca, CEO

Phil Porreca joined Colden as CEO in 2024 with nearly forty years of experience focused on the operations, design and management of 24×7 Network Operations Centers supporting mission critical business systems with leading commercial and defense organizations including Titan Corporation, CBS Television, Great Western Bank, Unimed, and Sanwa Bank. He’s also consulted for notable organizations such as Microsoft, Oracle, Waste Management, Albertson’s, and Weyerhaeuser. Over the last twenty-five years Phil has been inolved in eight different startups, building businesses from the ground up. 

Phil has specialized in turn-around projects for IT departments, replacing their technology and revitalizing processes and procedures. In his various positions, he has developed and delivered software applications, managed engineering consulting and platform engineering services groups, and been the managing partner of technology services and cellular software startups. Prior to transitioning into the technology sector, Mr. Porreca worked in the financial services sector and was involved in S&L bailouts, restructuring and asset sales.

William Polymenakos, CTO

CTO, William (Bill) Polymenakos, brings to Colden Company more than thirty years of technology industry experience in such varied roles as executive management and leadership, project management, systems architecture, support, applications development, sales, systems engineering, and consulting. 

Immediately prior to joining Colden Company, Polymenakos held the position of Director of Professional Services with Permessa Corporation, where he oversaw Permessa’s consulting, services, and support practices as well as all internal information technology functions. Polymenakos previously held the position of Director of Technology/CIO at Ecker Enterprises, Inc. Bill’s work at Ecker earned him nominations for the Executive’s Club of Chicago/Association of Information Technology Professionals 2006 CIO of the Year and CIO Magazine 2007 Ones to Watch awards, as well as numerous press citations in such industry-leading periodicals as eWeek and InformationWeek. Prior to Ecker, Polymenakos held key roles in GlaxoSmithKline in such varied areas as managing end-user support, through managing support for a global mission-critical Lotus Domino infrastructure, through technical architect and program leader for global information systems standards for use across all divisions of the enterprise.
